Getting started with Reporting

Follow these steps to configure and use Reporting.

Step 1: Review Reporting requirements

Review the system, network, security, and user role requirements for Reporting. See Reporting requirements.

Step 2: Install and cConfigure Reporting

Install Reporting along with any dependent solutions, set Set up Reporting users, and register the computer groups from which Reporting collects data. See Installing Reporting and Configuring Reporting.

Step 3: Explore Tanium-managed reports and dashboards

Reporting contains predefined reports and dashboards to help you get started on common activities in a Tanium deployment. See Tanium-managed reports and Tanium-managed dashboards.

Step 4: Register sensors with Tanium Data Service

Reporting uses data that Tanium Data Service collects from endpoints through registered sensors. To see which sensors are registered and to register additional sensors, see Tanium Interact User Guide: Managing Tanium Data Service.

Step 5: Create reports

Create custom reports for use cases that are specific to your environment. See Working with reports.

Step 6: Explore and manage endpoints

From the Explore Data page and Endpoint Details page, you can perform advanced exploration and management of endpoints. For example, you can issue drill-down questions in Tanium Interact, deploy actions, and manage endpoint file systems. See Explore data and create reports and Viewing and managing a single endpoint.

Step 7: Create dashboards

Create dashboards for use cases that are specific to your environment. See Working with dashboards.
