Special characters
When you create or edit a sensor, you cannot use the following special characters in the sensor name:
-
Comma ,
-
Quotation marks "
-
Equal sign =
-
Brackets: curly { } or square [ ]
- Parentheses ( )
- Question mark ?
- Ampersand &
- Underscore _ (The Tanium Console does not prevent you from using an underscore in sensor names. However, the underscore is used as a delimiter for sensor sub-columns. If the sensor name has an underscore, sensor-sourced packages cannot use the sensor as a sensor variable.)
Reserved words
If sensor names use any of the following reserved words, you must add quotation marks around the names when you enter a question in the Ask a Question field.
When you configure sensors, do not use reserved words in sensor names.
